Malden Center Transformative
Development Initiative (TDI) Quick Win

What is Mass Development’s
Transformative Development Initiative (TDI)?

MassDevelopment's Transformative Development Initiative (TDI) is a place-based economic development accelerator program designed specifically for Gateway Cities. The program provides multi-year resources aligned with local priorities to strengthen Malden's downtown commercial corridor, expand economic opportunity, and create pathways to wealth building for residents, businesses, and community stakeholders. See Malden’s press release about the City winning this competitive economic development designation. To learn more about MassDevelopment’s TDI program, please visit www.massdevelopment.com/products-and-services/funding-and-tools/tdi/ for more information.

What is the TDI Quick Win project?

The TDI Quick Win project helps each TDI district identify an early project that builds momentum, demonstrates visible progress, and activates the partnership during the first months of the TDI district launch. The project is meant to be visible and meaningful to the community, build collaboration between partners, support the district vision, and create positive momentum.

What is Malden’s TDI Quick Win –
Malden Center Sidewalk Games?

Malden Center is the home of the Malden Gaming District. To celebrate this incredible asset, Malden’s TDI partnership brought together artists and graphic designers to create interactive public art for the sidewalks throughout the district. These sidewalk games will spark joy, play, and interaction; increase foot traffic throughout the district; match game design/theme with adjacent businesses; and finally announce Malden TDI publicly.
